The blasters go below. The hazard in this kind of work is slight when in the hands of experts. Charges and fuses are prepared at surface and the job is done with a special crew.
This view discloses the type of construction undertaken at the shaft site of at Steep Rock.
An early view of the head works at Steep Rock. This plant is only four miles from the main line of the Canadian National Railway, at Atikokan, a divisional point.
